The Green Party of England and Wales have issued the following statements in response to today's terrorist attacks:
Jean Lambert Green MEP for London: "This is a cowardly and obscene act of terrorism. Violence solves nothing: it breeds fear and hatred and the world has more than enough of that. At the very point where the G8 have at last begun to talk about poverty and climate change - issues which affect so many millions - there is no clear message coming from these bomb attacks. My heart goes out to the families of the dead and injured, who will doubtless reflect the diversity of London, including race and religion."
The European Parliament observed a minute's silence for the victims this morning.
Paul Ingram, former Oxford City Councillor and deputy leader of the City Council and now European Security Issues Spokesperson for the Green Party added: "We deplore the horrific terrorist attacks in London today, and support all efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice. Our thoughts are with the injured, and the friends and family of those who have died.
"We would urge people not to panic, and avoid a knee jerk response. We face a variety of threats to our way of life. Terrorists, proliferation of nuclear weapons, resource conflict, and climate change. It is crucial the G8 leaders and the rest of the world face these threats urgently and act accordingly."
