Two separate motions (Green and LibDem) relating to the County's proposed residents parking charges in Oxford were combined and successfully passed at Full Council on Monday 20th November. The composite motion included a Green proposal to ask the County to consider adjusting permit charges according to the fuel efficiency of vehicles. Green Cllr David Williams, proposer of the motion, said, “Whilst we disagree with the flawed permit scheme proposed by the County, if it is to go ahead we want it to be environmentally beneficial to the City.”
Brighton & Hove Council already have a scheme in place where low and zero emission vehicles get a substantial reduction on residents parking permit costs.
