Chris Goodall has been the Green candidate for this constituency for three years.

He has focused on helping community groups protect open spaces and public facilities.

He has worked for the campaigns to protect the Trap Grounds in North Oxford, the public tennis courts and open space at Alexandra Courts, Radley Lakes near Abingdon and Warneford Meadow in east Oxford.

The groups in all these areas successfully resisted development proposals and these open spaces remain in community use.

Chris is one of the UK’s leading commentators and writers on climate change mitigation.

His three recent books have been praised around the world. ‘How to Live a Low-carbon Life’ was said by the New Scientist to be ‘the definitive guide to reducing your carbon footprint’. A new edition of this best –selling book is published in April 2010. ‘Ten Technologies to Save the Planet‘ was one of the Financial Times’ books of the year in 2008.

Chris broadcasts regularly on topics in energy and sustainability. His blog – Carbon Commentary – is part of the Guardian Environment Network.

He is a director of the 10:10 emissions reduction campaign and sits on the advisory boards of Climate Friendly Food and the Sustainable Restaurant Association.

During 2009, he gave talks to more than 30 community groups in Oxfordshire and is delighted to accept any invitation to attend meetings on political and climate change issues.

Chris lives with his wife, a professor of English language and literature at Oxford University, and three daughters near the canal in north Oxford.
