City backs 'unsafe' lone working Print E-mail

25th June

At a meeting of Full Council today, Labour and Liberal Democrat Councillors failed to support a motion from Green Councillor Matt Sellwood to reverse the cut to Park & Ride staffing which has resulted in lone working at night - a practice which the Greens believe to be unsafe and which ealier this year led to industrial action.

Text of motion below:

Park-and-Ride – Industrial Action (Proposer – Councillor Sellwood)

"Council notes the recent industrial action over ‘lone working’ during the evenings at the City’s Park-and-Ride facilities, the concerns of staff, and the thousands of signatures and letters opposing the change.

Council resolves to request the Executive to alter the budget framework in order to eliminate ‘lone working’ by taking £100,000 from Council reserves."
