The LibDems have suffered another embarassing blow with the announcement today of the defection of their fourth City Councillor since they took control at the Town Hall two years ago.

Two Councillors left to form a new Conservative Group and two left to join Labour.

Says Green City Group Leader Craig Simmons: "The LibDems must now be doubting their fitness to run the Council. With far fewer members now than Labour, the next Full Council meeting in September could well see a shift in the power base at the Town Hall. The Greens will, as we always have done, be looking at what is best for the people of Oxford."

The Green Group - with 8 Councillors - is in a strong position to influence the outcome of any political negotiations.
