LibDems fail in attempt to cut playscheme Print E-mail
8th October 2007

Today Green Councillors, at a full meeting of Oxford City Council, backed a Labour amendment overturning a decision of the LibDem administration to cut previsouly agreed funding (of £20,000) to the Dovecote Centre in Nightingale Avenue, Greater Leys.

The decision - which reversed an earlier decision of Council (where the Greens also backed funding of the playscheme) - was made earlier today at Executive Board. Here the Green EB Member, Cllr Matt Sellwood, also voted against the cut.

Says Green Councillor Craig Simmons "It is unfair of the Liberal Democrat administration to try and overturn the democratic decision of Council to fund this worthy organisation. The staff and users of Dovecote deserve to know where they stand."
