Thames Valley Police rated one of worst in Country |
|
|
10th October 2007According to Government figures released today, Thames Valley Police is close to being the worst performing force in England and Wales. Only Befordshire is rated lower. The 43 forces were assessed by Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary on seven categories: tackling crime; serious crime and public protection; protecting vulnerable people; satisfaction and fairness; implementation of neighbourhood policing; local priorities; and resources and efficiency. Says Green Councillor Craig Simmons: "The poor performance of Thames Valley police comes as no surprise. Compared with two, or three, years ago the quality of local, neighbourhood policing has definitely slipped. There also seems to be less emphasis on delivering to the priorities of local residents and elected members. However, it would be wrong to blame only the police. Their job has certainly been made a lot harder by Labour's crazy new licensing laws which seem designed to encourage drunk and disorderly behaviour." http://www.guardian.co.uk/crime/article/0,,2187289,00.htmlCllr.
