Climate Change impacts to be reported Print E-mail
At a full meeting of Oxford City Council held on 19th November 2007, a motion from the Green Group succeeded in gaining widespread Council support for improving the reporting of climate change impacts.

Text of motion below:

Climate Change Impacts – Information in reports (Proposer – Cllr Sellwood)

Council notes that -

Oxford City Council is committed through its Corporate Plan and Climate Change Action Plan to ongoing reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.

Many of the decisions taken by Councillors as a result of reports from officers have implications for greenhouse gas emissions and the climate change agenda.

Planning reports in Oxford now have a mandatory paragraph on the sustainability implications of any application.

Council believes that information on climate change impacts should be available to councillors before decisions are made.

Council:-

(1)   resolves that every report to councillors on matters that are Council functions contains a paragraph on the climate change implications of the recommended decision;

(2)   invites the Executive Board to resolve similarly in respect of reports on Executive functions.
