Better deal for horse riders Print E-mail

 At a full meeting of Oxford City Council held on 19th November 2007, a motion from the Green Group succeeded in gaining widespread Council support to inprove facilties for horse riders.

Facilities for Horse Riders in Oxford

Proposer – Cllr Young

 

 

Given that there are approximately 120 horses grazing the meadows of Oxford, and four riding stables where young people learn to ride but that most bridleways have been intersected by ring road dual carriageways and the County Council has allowed our safe access to our one designated area for riding in Shotover to be closed, this Council asks that councillors from the City, including the relevant Portfolio holder meet up with the County’s Highways and Countryside officers, Ian Hudspeth (Cabinet Member for Transport Implementation, Oxfordshire County Council) and the British Horse Society’s Access Officer to develop alternative safe routes for Oxfords horse riders;
