21 February 2008 The Labour Government is seeking to close 22 Post Offices in Oxfordshire with five further Post Offices being replaced with a much reduced mobile service. Says Green Group County Leader Cllr Larry Sanders, "Post Offices are the corner stones of many of this County's rural and urban communities. For the Government to seek to close them is a disgrace." Says Green Group City Leader Craig Simmons, "In Oxford City three post offices are under threat - in Iffley, Grandpont and Wolvercote. These are much needed resources that are valued by local residents. East Oxford MP Andrew Smith should be ashamed that he voted for these closures."
