Labour MP urged to oppose 3rd runway Print E-mail
2nd December 2008

As the Labour Government appears on the brink of signing up to a 3rd
runway at Heathrow Airport, Oxford East Green Party Parliamentary
Candidate Peter Tatchell challenges Oxford East Labour MP Andrew Smith to
demonstrate his opposition to the development by signing Early Day Motion
2344 against the expansion - something that most opposing MPs have done.
EDM 2344: GOVERNMENT POLICY ON THIRD RUNWAY AT HEATHROW AIRPORT

Says Peter Tatchell: "The 3rd runway proposal will exacerbate noise and
pollution for local residents and will undermine the Government's own
target to reduce carbon emissions.

"I urge Andrew Smith to show his commitment to tackle global warming
by signing the Early Day Motion (EDM) against the 3rd runway.

"Speaking out against climate change is not enough. We need action
from Andrew Smith and other MPs."
